“The Imagination of a Child,” Italy (Critique Review)

A movie or film serves as a forum for the sharing of thoughts and perspectives. The Imagination of a Child is a black and white movie that only shows a few moments, some landscapes, and some imagination. It does not have any dialogue. Director Cesare Catania trying to portray those things in this movie. A film always doesn’t need a particular story or line-up; sometimes a film can show just some shots and it’s viewing something new.

The movie opens with a clolck sound, followed by a child’s eyes, which can show different levels of our imagination. The child character, who serves as the primary character in this short film, makes a strong statement by narrating her everyday activities and life without using words. We see the same Italian structure construct a man on the opposite side when the child finishes the drawing and constructs the drawing structure concurrently. That is good, brize. In this story, the two characters are the same.
Although the two characters’ perspectives on the dream breeze differ, the director aims to convey that they are the same. This film has strong elements and a good idea.

Technical Point: Although the story is in the same line-up, the director tells it in a different way, making it difficult to understand. Perhaps this point could be more engaging if it were accompanied by another point. It is a little slow on other things. It would be more intriguing if it were more cripsy.
The final two minutes of the film are colored, which is a smart move considering the rest of the movie was in black and white. We wish you luck on your upcoming project and hope to see more work from him.

Critique Point: 3.5/5
